A love story between Datu Museng & Maipa Deapati began from the land of Galesong. In the history, Galesong was the navy center of Gowa Kingdom in South Sulawesi. There was Ade Arangan from the kingdom of Sumbawa who came to strengthen the navy of Gowa kingdom in Galesong. Ade Arangan later married to a noblewoman of Galesong and gave a birth for some children, among them; there was mentioned a name, Karaeng Gassing.
It is said that a son of Karaeng Gassing afterwards married to a girl, also from Galesong and they had a son namely I Baso Mallarangang. Later, he is known as Datu Museng. At the age of three, both of his parents were killed by Dutch soldier. Ade Arangan then raised his grandson and saved him by bringing him to his homeland, the kingdom of Sumbawa.
Arrived at Sumbawa, Ade Arangan was welcomed well by the king or Sultan Sumbawa said to be given a shelter and a land to live. In his childhood, Datu Museng was asked to recite holy Al-Qur'an at the hall led by Kadi Mampawa. There the place where for the first tine he met his destiny, Maipa, a daughter of Sultan Sumbawa.
In his adulthood, Datu Museng and Maipa Deapati received their knowledge at hall.
One day, Maipa played a play with a ring. She had grown to be a beautiful girl in the kingdom. When she played, the ring she played fell under the house. In a hurry Datu Museng helped her to take the ring and gave it back to Maipa. Here it is the love story began. Before giving it back, Datu Museng said, "Your ring has been on my ring finger, I would never let it off until I make you mine".

By achieving these two knowledge, Datu Museng can be a Sufi or a theologian and also can be a knight loved by women.
In the mean time, Maipa who was left by Datu Museng, avoid anyone and locked herself in her chamber. She wished to see Datu Museng.
To make the long story short, after completing his study, Datu Museng was back to Sumbawa. He found out that in the palace, it was held a sport competition, they called it as Raga match. This competition was held by inviting all the youth from all around the land with the aim, to entertain the princess Maipa in order she would come out from her chamber.
From all the men who joined the match, no one of them could play it well. Malangasa then joined the match but his play was also bad.
Sultan Sumbawa who saw Datu Museng in the audience, then asked Malangasa to handover the raga ball to Datu Museng.
At the beginning, Datu Museng also played it bad, due to his thought was always on Maipa. Nevertheless, after his grandfather yelled out to him, "Datu Museng, fix your game".
Maipa then came out from her chamber hearing Datu Museng's name and it resulted Datu Museng felt it good and had a spirit to play the good game.
Even though it was just a moment, he saw her face, it was enough to fill his energy and longed for her. In the last minute of the game, he kicked the raga higher that ever until it went to Maipa's bedchamber.
As a surprise for that, Maipa got sick.
After Maipa got ill, Sultan Sumbawa became worrier than before. Many shamans had tried to cure her but no one of them got succeed. After having direction from necromancer, it was directed to present the man who she mentioned in her sleep, and he was the one, Datu Museng.
Having too much love for his daughter, Sultan called Datu Museng as suggested. Datu Museng then came to the palace and was personally wellcomed by Sultan. When he went to the princess' room, he asked everyone to go out from the chamber.
Maipa who was still unconcious mentioned his name, and Datu Museng said, " I am Datu Museng, I've come for you".
After giving a medication, the Maipa opened her eyes slowly and saw Datu Museng's face. In fact, she had not fully recover yet, then Datu Museng suggested to her to take a bath in the river near the palace when full moon came.
"But do not be surprise when the storm and the rain come to destroy the village, I'll be on your side and I'll take you with me," he said.
After giving the direction to Maipa, then they came out together from the chamber. Seeing their daughter getting better, Sultan and his wife were very happy. She then told her parents that she needed to take a bath in the river near the palace when the full moon set.
When the full moon came, Maipa went to the river accompanied by the her maid and the palace guards, but then suddenly typhoons and downpour came that made all maids and guards blown away. In the duel, Datu Museng wear his well-known sacred keris named Mattonjong Gadinna that made Malangasa faced his loss. The sacred keris then stuck on Malangasa's neck but Datu Museng did not kill him because Malangasa already threw the sponge.
The loss faced by Malangasa soldiers then reported to Sultan Sumbawa, Dato Taliwang. Then he talked to Malangasa, "How come I take you as my son in law if even two people you could not defeat them. Moreover, by facing many people,".
That was the reason why Malangasa's proposal refused. After that, Sultan called Datu Museng and Maipa and blessed their marriage.

"Then what do you want?," her husband asked.
"Datu, I prefer to die at your hand than to be with Tumalompoa," Maipa answered.

Before Datu Museng fulfill his wife wish, he talked to his wife, "If you go first facing the God, I will follow you at the midday (before dhuhur pray). If I don't come, then wait for me at the noon (before ashar pray). If I don't come at the noon, I will surely come to you at the sunset (before Magrib pray)".
After giving his wife a promise, he afterwards granted his wife wish, to end her life by stabbing her neck to die. His wife's dead body then be brought and sit int he living room's chair.
At the time, the Dutch soldiers came closer to Datu Museng house, all his soldiers had been shot to death. When the midday came, Datu Museng still fought, even in the afternoon. When the sun was going to set, he remembered his promise to his beloved wife to come to her, nevertheless he still had the chance to fight over his enemy. Moreover, he saw Maipa's shadow at the west horizon, waving her hand to him. It made him resigned himself to Karaeng Galesong to be killed.
As for his love to his wife, Datu Museng released all his fetish, he ran and fought over the Dutch soldiers and found his death. After Datu Museng died, Karaeng Galesong ran into the house and found Maipa sat there. Thereafter, he lifted Maipa up and brought her to Tumalompoa carriage. Tumalompoa who was cheered for his victory, then rode the carriage and sat beside Maipa. When the carriage ran and passed the rocks, Tumalompoa got very surprise finding out Maipa's blood soaked his cloth.
